Die ekspo skop af te midde van swaar reën, en halfpad deur die oggend kom die waarskuwing om die area te ontruim weens dreigende vloede en oorstromings. Meneer Theron probeer haastig om die kinders veilig te kry, maar dan word die bus deur ’n vloed meegevoer en hulle moet veg vir hulle lewens. Meneer Theron help hulle om uit die rivier te kom, maar verdrink in die proses, en juffrou Siboto is self ernstig beseer.
Hulle kry vir die aand skuiling in ’n stappershuisie in die bos, maar voor hulle verder kan probeer stap, word hulle deur die water vasgekeer.
Met net ’n paar blikkies kos, ernstige beserings en geen werkende selfone nie, moet hulle probeer oorleef tot redding kom … ás dit kom.

Three Grade Nines are on their way to KwaZulu-Natal for a science expo. Chloe, Mbali, and Dante don't really know each other well, but this trip is going to change everything...
The expo kicks off amidst heavy rain, and halfway through the morning, the warning comes to evacuate the area due to impending floods. Mr. Theron hurriedly tries to get the children to safety, but then the bus is swept away by a flood, and they have to fight for their lives. Mr. Theron helps them get out of the river but drowns in the process, and Ms. Siboto is seriously injured herself.
They find shelter for the night in a hikers’ cabin in the forest, but before they can walk any further they are trapped by the water.
With only a few cans of food, serious injuries, and no working cell phones, they must try to survive until rescue comes ... if it comes.
A nail-biting survival adventure that will keep teenagers on the edge of their seats!
About the Author
As leser, skrywer én redakteur bestaan An-Mari do Carmo se hele lewe uit boeke - en 'n ongesonde hoeveelheid koffie. Sy is ook baie lief vir diere, cosy gaming en rampflieks. As laat-gediagnoseerde outistiese en ADHD-vrou is sy effens obsessief oor neurodiversiteit. Toe als groen was (2022) is An-Mari se debuutjeugverhaal, wat gebaseer is op haar grootwordjare in ʼn kultus. Dit is met die Desmond Tutu-Gerrit Brandprys vir debuutwerk bekroon. Sy het ook al twee ATKV Kinderboektoekennings ontvang. Sy woon tans in Klerksdorp saam met haar man Walter, 'n wetenskaponderwyser, en hulle twee hondekinders.
