Learner Guide Book 1 (Topics 1–14) introduces the fundamentals of renewable energy systems (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, biomass and emerging technologies) together with South Africa’s energy challenges, policy frameworks and the legislation governing renewable energy installations.

Book 1 places a strong emphasis on occupational health and safety: hazard identification, risk assessment, emergency response, PPE standards, fire prevention, lock-out procedures and safety signage for industrial and photovoltaic (PV) sites.

Learner Guide Book 2 (Topics 15–25) deepens safety competence (incident reporting, evacuation procedures, radiation hazards) and strengthens technical understanding of electricity fundamentals, circuits, power generation and electronic concepts.
