Through a selection of non-fiction readers, the series aims to inspire learners to read about, speak about and write about the values, needs, views and rights of indigenous peoples in our diverse country.
While reading, learners will become aware of the significant role of indigenous peoples, their cultures, beliefs and heritage. These are examined in the context of sustainable development and the development of all the cultures and languages in our country.
The titles in this series present an interesting collection of the indigenous knowledge related to each Learning Area in the Intermediate Phase. The series also inspires learners to give creative responses to the texts they have read in the form of activities, projects and research.
Teachers and parents are advised on ways to help learners with this. This series will be enjoyed by all learners in the Intermediate Phase and beyond.
