In hierdie tyd het Jan twee MBA's verwerf: sy meestersgraad in besigheidsadministrasie aan die Universiteit van Kaapstad en sy meestersgraad in braai-aktiwiteite aan die Universiteit van die Lewe.Jan Braai is die skrywer van nege topverkoper-resepteboeke. Sy boeke is in verskeie tale vertaal en internasionaal gepubliseer. Hy is die aanbieder van die hoogaangeskrewe televisieprogram Jan Braai vir Erfenis op DStv se Kyknet en Showmax. Dié program is tans in sy vyftiende seisoen. Hy is 'n aktiewe sportman en wanneer hy nie by 'n braaivuur of in die kombuis is nie bring hy sy tyd deur om fiets te ry, te roei of te hardloop.
